Blog Award

Thanks to  Carolyn Rosewood for this!

There are a few things that the new recipients must do should they decide to accept this award. They are:

1. Thank and link back to the person that gave this award.
2. Answer the 10 survey questions.
3. Pass the award along to other bloggers who you think are fantastic.
4. Contact the bloggers you’ve picked to let them know about the award.

Now for the questions:

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy doing this; if you are not anonymous, do you wish that you had started out anonymously so that you could be anonymous now?
  • I'm not anonymous, and that's okay.
2. Describe an incident that shows your inner stubborn side.
  • I worked on my Watchers novel for over six years before I finally got an offer.
3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?
  • Someone who is more than you perceive by first impressions.
4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?
  • Water with a twist of lemon.
5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?
  • Read or take a hot bath.
6. Is there something that you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?
  • To make a good living with my writing.
7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever, the shy person, or always ditching?
  • I was the shy person.
8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what would you see?
  • Like Carolyn Rosewood I also chose the wrong major in 1977. That's not what I would have thoguht of though, not sure what that would be.
9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?
  • I'm more comfortable with the later, but I can do either.
10. If you had the choice to sit down and read a book or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?
  • Read a book.
Now go and visit the bloggers I nominated for this award. Off you go...

Winter, is it over yet?

It came late, but I do believe winter has finally got its claws into Wyoming. The themometer has been hovering around zero degrees farenheit for several days now.
I'm grateful that I am able to work at home and I don't have to get out in the cold all that much. I've never been one of those idiots who like cold weather. No offense intended if you are one of them, more power to yah, but I'm already counting the days until spring.

Winter clothing gives me claustrophobia. Even just getting into a car is an effort when you have three inches of extra fabric wrapped around your body. Unlocking the front door is suddenly an ordeal when your wearing gloves, and of course the house key is the smallest one on the ring.

The cars hate it as much as I do. Every morning when we have to take the girls to early morning seminary, we pray that the suburban will once again come to life and take them where they need to go. So far we have been fortunate, but when the thermometer drops yet again to minus twenty and lower, who knows? I'm dreading those days, and I don't even usually have to go out. Thank you God, for central heating.

Call me a wimp, but I'm a fair weather girl.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It's only a few days away and I'm sure I won't have time on the 31st to do anything except hand out candy and gear up for NaNoWriMo. So I thought I would post my Halloween cards today.
I've recieved some great ones in the last years and wanted to share a couple of my favorites.
(Just click on the links below the photos, I hope this works...)

Happy Halloween

Self esteem issues?

Okay, so I finally can't stand it and I e-mail the editor at leatherwood press.
She did say that if I hadn't heard from her by the end of September to send a note. I hadn't heard, so I did. She was very prompt to reply.

She hasn't had time to read the book yet, but went on to say that this was a good thing becuse it would mean that it would come out in Januray or February of 2011 instead of late this fall. Anyway, it's better for it to come out after January because the bookstores will buy more copies. That's how it works I guess.

HUH? I guess I missed the part earlier, where they said they were going to publish it this fall. She did mention something on the phone about them having already scheduled it, but I took that to mean it was up for reviews or something. (Yah, I know, Norma's off in her own little world again.) Now I'm embarassed.

The truth is, I can't believe this is real. I've been in denial. I was feeling so rock bottom low from all the rejections I had recieved that I couldn't recognise it when someone said they actually wanted it. It seems too good to be true, and to happen so fast after all these years of working on the book. My friends who have gotten published have had to wait months or even years from the point of acceptance to the point of release. I'm blown away. I guess it pays to be with a smaller publisher who doesn't have a large base of already published clients ahead of you. (And no, they are not a vanity press, I checked. I have friends who have friends who have published with them.)

So it looks like I'm in, as long as they don't read the rest of the book and decide it doesn't meet their expectations. (See, there I go again, doubting myself.)

Whoo Hoo! I think I'm an author!
I AM an author, and now I'm about to be published.
(Keep telling me that, so I can believe it.)
Chant with me...I'm getting published, I really am getting published, I'M getting published, I'm getting PUBLISHED!

Just getting ready.

I'm gearing up this blog as an act of faith.
I'm waiting impatiently for a publisher to get back to me and let me know if they really are going to publish The Watchers of Sionon or not.
Waiting is so hard...
